LTQ Engineering

LTQ Engineering (formerly Jet Turbine Services - JTS) was formed in 2003 by a joint venture between Qantas Airways and Patrick Corporation, and acquired the Ansett Engine Shop in Tullamarine in July 2004. At that stage, JTS had a staff of 15 people and grand ambitions.

LTQ Challenges

The Tullamarine facility had fallen into disrepair and had been used as a dumping ground, so getting the business established and operational with aviation industry approvals by December 2004 was thought to be next to impossible. Challenges included:

  • IT resources scarcely available.
  • ERP system required immediately.
  • Establishing computer room and network that would meet stringent aviation industry standards.

AVTech Solutions

Managed Services

With scarce IT resources available, JTS considered the options and engaged Advance Vision Technology as its technology partner. An initial service level agreement was arranged, and with a basic business plan the process began.

ERP Deployment

JTS had already acquired some preliminary equipment to host their selected ERP, and the first task was to deploy this for rudimentary project development usage while a suitable computer room was fabricated, and network communications equipment was acquired and installed. AVTech engineers configured the JTS domain, getting the first batch of PC's and servers rapidly into service.

Network Installation

The next phase was delivering a computer environment solution that would meet the stringent requirements of a major aviation industry operation, while being cost-effective. This entailed SHDSL services and suitable protections, as well as full DRP solutions for a broad array of recovery situations. Also required was the ability to connect remote and mobile users. With AVTech staff taking ownership of the issues and challenges, the time to delivery was minimal with no loss of quality.

Procurement

JTS initially exercised the purchasing power of its parentage directly with equipment manufacturers and software providers. It didn’t take long to recognise the ability of AVTech to provide superior delivery at competitive pricing, with full traceability. This has enabled JTS to respond well to the rapidly changing landscape of business requirements.

Benefits

"From a very basic business plan, AVTech have helped JTS at every step to establish a sophisticated IT environment using leading edge solutions. Their knowledge, responsiveness, and ongoing support have been fundamental to our early success" – Leigh McMullen, ICT Systems Manager.
